Cannot sync photos "iPhoto library is not yet available"

When syncing iPhone 5s to iMac running Yosemite and get the following error:

"iTunes cannot sync photos to the iPhone "iPhone" because your iPhoto library is not yet available. Please try again later."

This phone has been syncing with iPhoto for some time now. This is a new one to me.

Tried rebooting the phone and the desktop machine, same result.

Interestingly, in iTunes when selecting the "photos" page all I get is the spinning circle for the iPhone, the other selections, Summary, Apps, etc., all load fine.

The same situation is true for the iPad mini, the photo page never loads. I have not attempted to sync the iPad since this error appeared.

Anyone familiar with this error?

This mac has had the "iPod" cache folder deleted in past months to clear another sync error, but had been syncing fine since then.

iTunes version 12.1.050

Thanks!

I have the same issue. I have rebuilt apple photos library and rebooted computer and iPhone multiple times and I keep getting.

iTunes cannot sync photos to the iPhone “****** iPhone 6” because your Photos Library is not yet available. Please try again later.

I can sync a folder of images just nothing from 'Photos' I have recently upgraded to El Capitain and this happened straight away. I wonder if its an issue with the OS?

I have also tried this on my iPad and the same issue arises. So it's certainly an Mac OS issue. I hope that they sort this out ASAP as it's a MASSIVE bug.

I had the problem while trying to sync my photos with Aperture and I was able to resolve the issue by doing the following:

Click on "photos" tab in the phone's options within itunes

Change "copy photos from: "(dropdown box) to anything other than Aperture

Change "copy photos from:" back to Aperture

Sync completed

I believe unchecking "sync photos" and then rechecking it will most likely accomplish the same thing, but not definite. I hope this is helpful to someone.

I tried a lot of options - f.e. removing the some files in the library with helpful advices of "léonie" - but it regrettable did not work....after trying to "repair" - i did not finish because I have many photos and it lasted ages and stayed some time at 6%.. - today I tried to find some answers in the iPhone forum but could not find any...

After some other trying I changed the address of my Photo Library to the safe copy at another HD. I tried to sync with my iPad and it did not work - even was not synchronizing anything - not even the apps :-( I thought I did something wrong.....but I made an new start and tried to sync with my iPhone and VOILA! it works! Afterwards I made a reset on my iPad and the sync was working too... I do not know what happened...but it seems to be o.k.

Thanks for pointing this out thegoodly. I decided to take the plunge and move 15 years worth of digital photos from iPhoto and Aperture into Photos. To say that the migration path has been a pain in the *** is being too kind to Apple. I'll keep an eye on the Activity monitor and hopefully my photos will become "available" to iTunes soon as I'd like to be able to sync albums to my iPhone again.
