Iphone 3GS device locked

I have iphone 3GS purchased in 2010 from Vodafone India with firmware 6.1.3 functioning well until now. Today it rebooted on its own and then message appears connect to itunes. When connected through windows, message on itunes is "itunes cannot read the contents of the iphone "Nika". I do not have back-up of my contents. The itunes is asking to restore but if I restore, my contacts will be lost. When connected through Window, my photos and videos import window opens up which indicates it is possible to read the files on the device. Even the homescreen set by me is visible on the device.

I can restart it in DFU mode too when connected with PC and message appears "iTunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this iphone before it can be used with iTunes." But the problem is that if I restore all contacts will be lost.

When connected with PC in normal mode (i.e. not in DFU mode), the device is turning off and on again and again on its own. However, in DFU mode, this problem is not faced though screen remains dark.

I tried it on Apple Mac also but the problem is same.

Pl suggest a solution either to get into the device storage file to extract contacts or facility to take back-up or restore with back-up of contacts. If nothing is possible, can I jailbreak in the current form, open SSH and get the addressbook.

Everything that was on your iPhone, including contacts, is already gone.

It is not so because there are photos and videos on the device and I can still see as can be seen in the following screenshot. I have copies some of the photos but the copying process is getting interrupted due to device turning off/on again and again on its own.

@Deggie : Pl also see the screenshot of internal storage position of the device : out of 13.5 GB, only 7.56 GB is free that means all the data on the device are intact but I am unable to access the same.

You can download a piece of software named TouchCopy to your computer and try to pull the data from your iPhone.

I tried, Touch copy12 shows files (Airfare, Airlock, Application Archieves, Books, DCIM, Downloads, Itunes_control, Photodata, Podcasts, purchases, Reccordings, Safari; Each file has sub-folders e.g. books.plist) music and photos but for contacts, the message is that it is unable to communicate with the iphone.

Data is there, the problem is of communication between PC and iphone firmware.

Is there anyway to instal programme like open SSH / winSCP and copy addressbook or access the addressbook file without re-installing firmware or If I reinstal firmware in normal mode, is there any likelihood of data being restored from the device (in absence of backup on PC or MAC)

I tried by installing syncios, the device gets connected, it shows all the SMSs, media, phots but still contacts file is not accessible.

I have got partial solution. There is a programme Wondershare TunesGo Retro which displays all contacts and SMSs under free version, allows export for only 5 contacts. For export of all contacts and SMS, one needs to buy for USD 60. But nevertheless, I can now see the contacts.

Since they are intact, now can someone please suggest me any official solution.
