Can the NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M handle 4k video editing?

I can't seem to find any solid evidence on whether or not the NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 can handle 4k video editing. I'm helping a friend start a business, and he only has limited resources, so this is the Macbook we're looking into:

Refurbished 15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.3GHz Quad-core Intel i7 with Retina Display

Originally released June 2012

15.4-inch (diagonal) Retina display; 2880-by-1800 resolution at 220 pixels per inch

NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory

I know the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M can handle 4k nicely, but is the older 650M sufficient enough?

MMany people shoot 4K to reframe in post. An interview with two people sitting side by side becomes a three camera shoot.

Tom Wolsky hit the nail on the head. Most of the 4K that will be shot, will be cropped. For the time being, the company is heavily focused on real estate photography/videography.

It's rhetorical, you don't need to answer, but lots of people shoot 4K for absolutely no valid reason. If he's got a good reason and proper tools to shoot 4K, he must therefore have the tools to edit and deliver 4K. That's a more current Macintosh, for sure, and there are many machines on the used market. Keep looking and he will find something for much less than a new unit (like a production company that found out they can't make any money shooting 4K). Wishing him luck and fun.

According to http://www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gt-650m/specifications the GT 650m should be able to handle 4K at 60 hz using mini displayport. Also, proof here: http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/136856/can-my-mid-2012-macbook-pro-reti na-15-run-a-4k-panel-at-30hz-over-hdmi.

No. The 650M precedes 4K.

Thank you. I did some research, but couldn't find documentation that specified the limitations. Do you have any documentation you can cite? I may still be interested in that MacBook for myself.
