bootcamp install windows in virtual mode??? or boot mode
Yes, you can. Please see the screen shot on page 1 of this discussion for creating the VM from a Bootcamp partition.
Under VMWare Fusion -> File do you see an option for Show Import Library?
Not There. under File: On my version I have New, Open, Open and Run, Open Recent, Import, Migrate your PC and close.
Migrate your PC only works for a separtate machine, powered on.
"Import "has three dots indicating more choices than one, but when it is clicked I go to the image I sent a few minutes ago.
I am beginning to think this is in the "too hard pile."
No it is not. Please take a look at http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&docTypeID=DT _KB_1_1&externalId=1014618 .
OK, I am following the procedure in the file you sent. I had a window different than what was stated, but I am now importing the Boot Camp Disk and unfortunately it looks to be huge again. I had no choice to setup a pointer to the existing files.
I've been at the down load about 10 minutes and it's just begun. Thinking I should cancel and go back,
Importing BC disk is not what we want. Did you execute Step 3 "Play" button....?
Bingo!!!! I canceled the long down load and went back and took the first alternative (in retrospect, should have taken it the first time) and I am now running on Windows 7 under the Mac/VMware.
I haven't checked to see yet if I can access the files that I use in running on Native mode. Hopefully I will be able to do that. Currently the Setup wizard is installing VMware tools. It has now finished that and I have access to the applications I run in Native Mode. Wahoo!
Loner, I GREATLY appreciate all the time you have spent with me to get to this point.
1. To clarify, what was the 'first' alternative?
2. You should have access to all your BC files.
3. Please backup OSX, Windows and exclude VMDKs which may be physical disks.
4. Remove the old VM which should free up some disk space for your use.
Ah, just a different layout for the UI. Thanks.
Loner, You are a jewel! Thanks again for all the help. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving and if I may, wish you a Merry Christmas!
Happy ThanksGiving and a Merry X'mas to you and yours!. Take care. If you run into any further issues, please post back. 😉
