iMovie and Sony DCR-HC26

Has anyone encountered problems with the hook-up of this camera? I've tried everything so far. I've made sure the firewire cable is properly attached, and the camera is on. When I load iMovie I can see a blue screen with the heading "Camera Connected" (or some variation of that). I can control the camera from the computer, and I can see the time (in the camera) at the top right corner of the screen. As soon as I press play, the time goes away and there's no image on the comp, just on the camera itself.

Can anyone help me?

Unfortunately, I have already attempted those steps with no success. The system profiler recognizes the camera in the firewire section. I still do not receive a picture from the camera, only operation of the camera through the computer console.

I've looked in some other forums and found that this is a common problem with this model. It seems like there should be some sort of switch within the camera itself, sending a video and audio signal through the firewire port directly into iMovie.

Quite curious as to how others have managed to get their Sony DCR-HC26 Camera running in time with their Mac.
