CONSOLE TEXT: Could someone PLEASE help me?

Hi all, I've had this problem for a long time where my MacMini becomes unresponsive and a spinning beachball appears. When the spinning beachballs appear I'm forced to wait until they go away but they return after a few minutes.

I tried re-installing Yosemite and that didn't do anything, but I DIDN'T erase the Mac's HDD.

I hope someone can help me!

Sorry, but which instructions? What am I supposed to do?

When I posted that suggestion over a week ago I thought perhaps Linc would visit here as you requested, but I don't think that's going to happen. He rarely responds to follow-up questions from anybody except the OP of the discussion and will often stop following threads for that reason. Not sure why he hasn't stopped by here yet.

At any rate, his second set of instructions are here.

I still feel like the Console text I posted would be more helpful.

I think we've done all we can with the Console output. Most of the information in the All Messages output is strictly for information only. The system.log is where error messages are written and that's far more important to troubleshooting, but again it only tells us what went wrong and says nothing about third party software installations and failed processes that may be the root cause. EtreCheck will also tell us what kind of diagnostics reports are being produced as a result of such issues. Perhaps one of them holds the real answer.

That's an excellent way to totally disable much of your third party software. It won't be restored without re-install the software, so I would never recommend doing something like that to a user who doesn't really know what those are for.

First I wanted to let you know that I had system.log entries almost identical to yours a couple of days ago, but there was no slowdown of any kind at the time they appeared. I still have no idea what they relate to.

Your EtreCheck report seems to be pointing to one issue with Paragon NTFS. The sparkle LaunchAgent failure isn't a big deal (sparkle keeps track of updates) but those five crash reports on March 12 & 14 tell me something is wrong. Perhaps you need an update or just a re-install. In any case, that should not be happening.

Kernel panics are almost always a big deal, but since that one was before you noted this problem, it may not be related.

nplastpass, Flash Player and Silverlight plugins are all out-of-date and the last two have security related issues.

Not sure why you have Little Snitch Configuration launch at startup (I don't recall ever having that). Do you really need VLCStreamer Application and AirPlayitServerManager Application starting at login?

Make sure you recognize all the other third party software that's installed, that you still need it and it's up-to-date.

Steamclean has been known to cause issues for some users.

NewbMacUser wrote:

The slowdowns that I'm experiencing aren't just slowdowns because my entire Mac becomes unresponsive and all I can do is move the spinning beachball around and wait for my Mac to become usable again.

But it's still a slow-down. Doesn't matter whether it's a fraction of a second or several seconds. As long as you can regain control of the computer without rebooting, it's not a freeze. It's exactly what I would see after a crash while the report is being prepared and written.

NewbMacUser wrote:

With the plugins you pointed to: "nplastpass, Flash Player and Silverlight plugins" I believe these are for Safari

Actually, they are for all your browsers. That's why they are in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/.

so how can I update these?

For Flash Player go to System Preferences->Flash Player->Updates tab and click the "Check Now" button.

For the other two, in EterCheck click [Click for support] next to each one and it will Google it for you.
