Thanks Eric Root... I have trashed MacKeeper and opened up some disk space by deleting some photo libraries. It's much better, but still sluggish. Anything more you can recommend based on my latest EtreCheck? Thanks again for your help!

See if you can find the file using this program. If you go Finder/View/Show Path Bar, it will show you where it is located.

EasyFind – Spotlight Replacement

I'd add RAM. It helped my computer when I increased above 4 GB. The 2 places I’ve seen recommended most to buy reliable RAM are below. I have purchased RAM several times from Other World Computing and have always been very satisfied with the product and service. They have on-line instructions on how to replace the RAM. OWC has also tested RAM above what Apple states is the maximum. I now have 6GB installed on a machine supposedly limited to 4 GB.

Follow these instructions to uninstall MacKeeper. They have been tested with the most recent version of MacKeeper. Earlier versions than the one released in 2012 require more extensive work to uninstall all its components.

If you actually used MacKeeper to alter your system, e.g. "remove excess binaries" or such, you will need to reinstall OS X as well as all your additional software. Uninstalling MacKeeper is insufficient to reverse the corruption it is capable of - once again, that is if you used it.

If you merely installed MacKeeper but did not use it to perform any particular action, the following instructions will suffice.

  • If you used MacKeeper to encrypt any files or folders, use MacKeeper to un-encrypt them first.
  • Quit the MacKeeper app if it is running.
  • Open your Applications folder: Using the Finder's Go menu, select Applications.
  • Drag the MacKeeper icon from your Applications folder (not the Dock) to the Trash.

You will be asked to authenticate (twice):

User uploaded file

You do not need to provide a reason for uninstalling it:

User uploaded file

Just click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. You will be asked to authenticate again.

After it uninstalls you may empty the Trash and restart your Mac. All that will remain is an inert log file that does nothing but occupy space on your hard disk.

com.reviversoft.MacReviver.FileSystemHelper.plist

That's a new one for me. Its website claims "MacReviver includes all of the essential tools to help you clean, optimize and maintain your Mac and restore its performance and stability."

Macs do not need and cannot benefit from the use of third party "cleaning", "optimizing", or "maintenance" products. If you see those words used in the context of marketing a product for the Mac, run away. It's your money they're after.

Their website offers the following uninstallation instructions. Beware that I have not verified them, and it is typical for garbage products to have uninstallation instructions or tools that don't work. Back up your Mac prior to making any changes to its file system.
