Zavions support for Mac, just charged me $499.00 to remove virus and spyware off my computer after my Safari screen prompted me to call it's 800 number. Are they a scam?

Zavions support for Mac, just charged me $499.00 for clearing a virus and and spyware off my computer after my Safari page froze and prompted me to call an 800 number leading to Zavions support team to clean up the problem. Are they a scam or a recognized support for Mac authroized by Apple?

In case you are wondering how these popups are done, it's javascript. Nothing more than the following:

<scripttype="text/javascript">
<!--
functionWarn(){ alert ("This is a scam message!"); document.write ("Your computer has a virus so you must call this scam number to have it removed. Don't forget to give them all your money");
}
//-->
</script>

TTheir last scam is $1599 for lifetime service/firmware! They said my IP address/network was compromised by a false script they ran. I call my service provider to check my IP everything was fine. The MOST UPSETTING thing was they said my Bank Acct. was hacked! After calling my bank and seeing who had tried to login to my acct. ONLINE, the address was of Zavions! They said hackers were from Nigeria...it's all a scam!
