Where did you see this update? Since it was not posted on any official Apple site, how did you download it? There has been no official update release from Apple. Always look for updates from iTunes or alerts on your phone.

That is a new one to me. What were you told when you purchased this $150 deductible? There is no $150 deductible from Apple. An out of warranty replacement for the iPhone 5c is $269. Apple Care Plus deductible is $79. Please explain.

The $150 sounds about right for the deductible Asurion charges to replace phones covered by insurance. If it was an insurance replacement, there's something more going on.

I think you were scammed. There is no 8.1.4, and never has been. Not even a beta. If you only update using the phone itself or iTunes you will never get a bogus update.

The exception is if the phone is jailbroken; then all bets are off.

Agreed. Current beta IIRC is iOS 8.2. Never been an 8.1.4, not even a beta. So, OP was probably scammed.
