I noticed if I hit ok, it keeps going anyways. But I also noticed that itunes stays running in the background when I close it, and to get it opened again i have to ctrl-alt-delete and kill it. I also noticed that i have a way big credit card bill coming so i should probably see this situation as a sign and leave this disorderly funnel alone.

I too am having the same problem. I cannot connect to the iTunes store since downloading 7.1. The message says the network connection is refused. I have followed everyones advice and none of these things have helped. This is very frustrating. Where do we go next??
So noone has a sure fire fix for this?
How do you contact someone at Apple?

did you ever get your problem fixed? can u access the store?
I'm new to this Forum but I don't see an answer to this 'network connection refused' problem? I have same issue. I THOUGHT Apple was running ads knocking MicroSoft? Although justifiable, WHERE is the answer for this IF it's so simple???
I'm in AV sales/ install. Have set up MANY my customers w/ iTunes. HOPE they are NOT having same problem/ start calling me!!

This is amazing.
The problem has been around for several weeks now and the nice frieldly Apple folks won't recognize that 7.01 for Windows is a buggy POS.
Use an iTunes alternative and buy music elsewhere, I guess.

I can connect to the store and buy music, but for
some reason starting last night i get an error
message when downloading music saying "There was a
problem downloading "Music that you bought / bla bla
/ i love you". An unknown error occurred (-42018).
Please check that the connection to the network is
active and try again.
I reset my dsl modem, i reset my router, i plugged
directly into my modem, i rebooted 7 or 8 times... I
was gonna try on another computer to see if that
works, and the last idea i had was trying from my
mom's house, she has cable, woohoo my dsl is only
144k maybe i should always do that.
Anyways my connection is fine, i downloaded a song
from emusic just fine, i browsed the web, i found out
Zito blew the game, bla bla. I give up =(
my unknown error was -50 and i am clueless as to what is going on and am very upset considering this was the first time i ever purchased an album online.
Windows XP
i turned off my popup blocker and the album i purchased (but that didnt get downloaded because of this error -50) got deleted
I fixed the problem! It was with an old, and I thought, uninstalled firewall fro eTrust.I had to:start>search>firewall
drive C and then change the firewall settings manually. There was NO problem with iTunes or Apple.
Dell Windows XP Pro
This is very frustrating. I checked the cable, i cleared the dns cache (as apple suggests), i then ran the diagnostic. This was what I got:

did you ever figure this out? It appears we are having the same problem.
I'm getting exactly the same message as posted here. I know my network's fine, everything else is running! I was able to download when I still had itunes 6 and now am bitterly regretting upgrading. APPLE- you guys- get a FIX for this problem. God i can't wait till microsoft releases their product, and then i'm outta here.
I have found that if I turn off my Norton Firewall and open iTunes, It will access everything. After iTunes opens I turn the firewall back on. This has worked ever since I have installed 7.0.1.8 Yes it's an inconvienence, but it works.
What are the iTunes alternatives?
