unwanted photos on iPad

I have an album on my iPad and I cannot delete any of the photos from it. the album is not on my computer, the photos are no longer on my computer or my iPhone. the photos were originally shot with my iPhone to upload to Face Book and have since been deleted from the iPhone. I have never sync my photos to iTunes so I am not sure how they got on the iPad.

why in the world would you create an place to store photos and make so you could not delete the images. that is probably the silliest thing Apple has done..
