Find my iPhone activation lock

I Have an I phone 4 but I reseted it so I can sell it but the find my iPhone activation lock is on and I forgot my Apple ID that I used. What do I do?

iPhone 4, iOS 7.1.2

It's called an "activation lock." It's an anti-theft mechanism. It makes the iPad worthless to a thief. Having said that, there are issues faced by legitimate owners. In those instances, Apple will remove the lock if AND ONLY IF the owner provides a government photo ID and incontrovertible proof (i.e., proof that will hold up in court) that he/she is the owner. In the case of company-owner property, it's also necessary for the human to prove that he/she is an authorized representative of the company.


If you're reasonably close to anApple Store, make an appointment with the resident "Genius" and go there. Otherwise, you'll have to ship it to Apple - first, call 800-275-2273 in the U.S.A. and I think Canada.
