how do i know if wifi extend is needed for time machine?

I suspect that my new Time Machine is dropping out when using WiFi. On my wife iMac in particular. We didn't have this trouble with the older Time Machine.

How can i test if the wifi signal is strong enough in case I need to relocate the Time Machine to the same room as our Macs or add a wifi extended?

Airport Time Capsule 802.11ac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

The problem is more likely Yosemite which has terrible networking..

Constant dropout from the TC is a network not wireless issue.. see this thread.

I recommend you start from the end and work backwards.

If the position and location of devices hasn't changed... from the old Time Capsule to the new one.. then it is unlikely to be wireless alone.

You can do a proper wireless diagnostic with the built in utility. It has been there since Mountain Lion.
