Added a gmail account last week. All worked fine until I changed my email address/I'd. Now every time I want to read mail or reply it asked for my ID and PW! Not fun. And I noticed when I go into my iCloud pref. my new email address is there of contact info but at the place where my picture. And name is it still shows my old email address. Can't figure out how to fix. Any ideas? It's iPad Air with 8.1.3

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago asking me to sign into Icloud with ID and password every time I wanted to read email.
I deleted the email from settings then re-added it. May also be worth signing out of ICloud and signing back in to see if that helps.
Your post is a bit confusing. You appear to be talking about two different things, your Gmail account and your Apple ID. Did you change your Gmail address? If you, delete the old Gmail account and add the new one in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar.
Did you update the email address in your Apple ID? Did you create a new Apple ID?
The password for your Apple ID and the password for your Gmail account have nothing to do with each other. Changing one has no effect on the other. If you changed your Gmail password, the easiest thing to do is to delete the Gmail account and add it back in Settings>Mail, Contacts and Calendars. If you set up two factor authentication for your Gmail account, follow Gmail's instructions on setting up an application specific passcode for your Maill app.
It's a new gmail account. Changed my email address in iCloud and now wants my password etc. every time I try to read or send. Never had to do that until I added the gmail address so they must be connected somehow! My original email address still works without a passwrd, only the gmail account. And that is the only one I will be using shortly.
What are you being asked a password for, your Gmail account? Or your Apple ID? They are not the same, even if you use your Gmail address as the user name for your Apple ID. Until you can determine what is asking for a password, I don't have any other suggestions.
Sounds like keychain needs to be reset for your mail.
Under utilities folder in applications open keychain access
select all items under catagories and find anything to do with mail or smtp in list on right and delete those lines.
When you use the mail next time enter the new password and it should remember it moving forward

That doesn't make any sense. Sending or receiving email on your devise doesn't require your Apple ID and password.
Delete the email account and add it back as described above. Do you still have the problem?

Gmail uses IMAP. Devices sync to the server where your mail is stored. No email should be lost by removing the account from your phone.
WWell, I deleted it, still askes me for Apple ID but I can hit cancel and it lets me reply anyhow. Hmmmm...thanks for trying!
