Hello,

Yes, you are correct. Halos connect to the iPhone using Bluetooth but uses Airplay to communicate with each other. Akin to you using an ISP to connect to the internet and using a browser to communicate with a server.

To verify this, from the lock screen, bring up your control center. In control center, you will see that Bluetooth is on and Airplay shows your hearing aids. IF you turn off theBT, Airplay will cease as well as your connection to the Halos. You can also verify this by connecting a pair of Airplay enabled speakers then using the control center, toggle between the speakers and your hearing aids. You will notice the same behavior.

BTW, if you don’t see your hearing aids in control center, you did not enable this feature. Go to settings> general> accessability< hearing aids then select the option to show in control center.

I’d tell you more but I’d have to delete you, LOL J/K

HTH and good luck.

Oldgnome, I thought we were talking about audio? Ringtones?

Anyway, I reread my post and noticed an error. I said Airplay has two channels when I meant to say the IOS has two channels. When using BT, if Airplay is not used, both channels are used together. IF Airplay is used, both channels are used separately.

Oldgnome, BT Airplay speakers are not BT 4.0 LE but behaves the same way as the Halos. Notification on the phone and everything else on the speakers. Why?

As far as the ringing on a wired headset goes, I have a pair of HK CLs and I HEAR THE RINGTONES AND OTHER NOTIFICATIONS THROUGH MY HEADSET. What kind of headsets are you using? Can you control the phone with an inline mic?

I am new to hearing aids as of the last month. I just got Halo i110s and agree I would like to have the incoming call ring in the aids. Before the Halos, I used a Plantronics Voyager Legend BT earpiece. This device announced the call into my ear with the option to answer or ignore by verbal command. I guess what I am saying is what we want is possible, practical in a unit the size of the Halo may be another story.

Thank you for the response. I gathered that from the discussion. I was just making the point that it was possible and I believe desirable to have at least in the ear ringing. It is great to be able to carry on a conversation through the Halos, but only if you hear the iPhone ring in the first place. Hopefully the Halos will improve my hearing so much I can hear the iPhone ring when it is in a coat pocket.
