updates available but do not show the update button just the play button.
I have two updates shown but I only get the Open button not the Update button. Anybody else have this happen to them?
Open means it's already downloaded.

But it still says the updates are there but no option to install.
It briefly flashes update before switching to open.
Do you use more than one Apple ID?
If not, try sign out in Settings > iTunes & App Store > Apple ID: > sign out then sign back in.
What version of iOS is on your device? I remember a lot of people posting about having issues if they had an earlier version of 7 other than 7.1.2. You may need to update iOS on your device to get updates working again.

It has corrected itself am running latest update.
This issue has returned here is a screenshot of updates available but no option to update them

I Have the exact same problem.
I Finally just started rapidly and repeatedly tapping the updates button bottom right and the update all button top left and they all started downloading.
