Have a Canon PIXMA MX472 wifi printing works perfectly, scanner will not work. Have been on the phone with Canon, they say problem is not on their end drivers are installed. Something on OS X Yosemite is blocking communication. Any ideas?

Okay, so IPv6 is being used. As a test I would like you to change the Configure IPv6 drop menu from Automatically to Off. Then click OK to save the change and restart your Mac. After you log back in, open Printers & Scanner and click the plus button to add. Now do you see the MX showing as Bonjour Multifunction or only as Canon IJ Network?
My only choices are: automatically, manually, link-local only. Which should I choose?
Very sorry. I forgot that I had previously made a change to my network settings. To get Off in the drop menu, open Terminal and copy then paste the following text
networksetup -setv6off Wi-Fi
Hit the Return key and then enter your password when prompted. Click OK and then check the IPv6 drop menu. The Off option should now be available.
Completed this request. Still only shows as Canon IJ Network.
You have been so helpful so far. Was wondering if there is anything else I should try before I go buy a USB cable. Thank you.
Sorry but at this stage I have nothing else. I cannot re-create the symptom so I cannot determine a solution. I think the USB cable will be the quickest way to resolve this, especially if you don't scan that often.
Turned the computer on this morning and there were updates to install. Installed Security Update 2015-003 and Safari Update 8.0.4 and guess what? That's right the scanner now works! Canon Support was right, the issue was Apple's. So glad it is now fixed. Thank you for all the help you gave me.
did you re install everything again ?
cause i did the update but the same problem still exist
All I did was install the 2 updates (Security Update 2015-003, Safari Update 8.0.4), my MX472 was off when I did this. I didn't reinstall it, just turned it back on and tried it.
I'm in the US, if you're not that might have something to do with it.
Surprised to read that the Security Updates resolved the Bonjour issue. But who cares how it gets fixed, as long as it is fixed.
