iOS 8.2 apps are crashing iPhone 6

Just downloaded iOS 8.2. rebooted the phone after installing and apps are crashing again.

Just beware if you are using iPhone 6 (I have a 128GB version) this update may not be 100% stable.

If you don't need to upgrade yet I would consider not bothering or at least wait a few days.

Considering rebuilding the entire phone again just to rule out that but to be honest after doing so several times since 8.1.2 I'm kinda getting fed up.

my Facebook messenger app is also crashing.

Someone here said,"we just have to wait for an iOS update, or for the apps themselves." Why is the latter such an after thought? This happens with every update. Apps break and we blame Apple. Facebook had access to 8.2 a long time ago. If their app is crashing now, it's because they didn't update it properly, ahead of the 8.2 release. It is up to devs to make sure their apps continue to work with the OS as it evolves.

Just found a resolution:

After going to settings > general> usage > manage storage> selected the app > deleted app, then went back to the app store and redownloaded it. Then after it was done downloading, I went going to Facebook.com- create or attempt to respond to a message and it should automatically open the messager app on its own. This resolved the issue for me.

Boom.

This is the solution that worked for me!

So I just purchased my iPhone 6 a few hours ago, it is my first iPhone...

I started installing a few apps and didn't have any problems until I installed Facebook Messenger, which proceeded to crash repeatedly.

I looked online and found no help, and came across this. So I started troubleshooting...

1. Go to Settings

2. Go to iCloud

3. "Storage"

4. "Manage Storage"

5. "This iPhone" (or whatever yours is called)

6. "Show all apps"

7. Disabled Facebook Messenger and Facebook

8. "Turn Off & Delete"

9. Reinstall App

10. Success

Good luck, that is what worked for me anyways...

I have the iPhone 6 (64gb) space grey...

Hi same problem occur to me too.

I recently install the update this friday. And then my email doesn't work anymore. It open and crash right away. Same thing for my facebook messenger. Sometime my Iphone freeze too and it restart himself. Some of the video i use to watch on facebook now said ''Unable to play video Check the strenght of your connection and try again''. I never had an problem with the strenght of my connection. Since the update, my iphone is a joke.

iPhone 5 here. Updated to iOS 8.2 yesterday and iOS Messages would crash on launch after a brief hang. Lost all history. Rebooted phone with same result.

I started a conversation on Desktop using Messages there and the iCloud linked account seems to have pushed the history back to the phone. I fully quit and relaunched Messages on the phone and it seems to be working fine again.

My totally wild hunch hunch says it was a db schema change and old indexes not getting cleared.

Did you all see the solution I posted?

Or do you not read the forums and just complain and don't research?

Thanks for your answer DasDragon however for me personally this isn't relevant as I don't back up my apps to the iCloud. However for some people this may work.

Not been on here for a few days and the number of issues seems to be focussing around Facebook apps, which is good but I am concerned that the wider issue is not that developer but for all apps. Thankfully for me my bank has released an updated and stable version of their app now but a number of services which offer apps such as bbc and amazon keep crashing.

It now makes me wonder it could be something to do with memory or cache particularly on video content

Man I don't know then, I got a brand new phone and updated to the latest release and everything is working fine for me.

I have not encountered a single issue with any app from Trivia Crack to Facebook and Zillow, Yelp, etc..

Maybe there are different models of the iPhone 6 that have a compatibility issue?

Or maybe it has something to with the phone settings...
