iPhone ... Apple Watch ... In-Car Bluetooth ... Issues?

My car's (Jaguar) Bluetooth system automatically connects to my iPhone 5 as soon as I switch the ignition on.
If I get an Apple Watch, my iPhone will already be connected to the watch when I start my car.

I believe that this will prevent the phone from connecting to my car's Bluetooth as that would require the phone to be capable of communicating with two Bluetooth devices simultaneously, which it can't.

Am I correct?

Yes, your phone can connect with more than one BT device at a time. They just can't use the same profile. I run with BT headsets and a BT heart rate monitor. I connect my iPad to a BT speaker and a BT keyboard at the same time. However, we still can't really answer your question as we don't know exactly which profiles will be used by the Watch.

I"ve had no BT issues with my iPhone 6.

I have this question too and I see so do some others. It's a perfectly valid one to ask and frankly, wegras is being more than a little unhelpful - I'd give a more candid opinion of his responses but it'd probably get me banned ....

Downsie - I think it will do what you want. You should be able to continue pairing your phone with the car's Bluetooth and then use the Apple watch simply as a remote control, so when for example you use your watch to activate Siri, it'll still use the car's microphone and speakers to interact.

I would see this as a fundamental feature that Apple couldn't omit as using the watch in combination with your phone in the car is technically no different to using it with a Bluetooth headset. If you couldn't use your Apple watch whilst your phone was paired with a wireless Bluetooth headset it would be a complete disaster, so whilst I've never tried it, I'm 99% confident it'll do what you want it to.

No, it wasn't answered to the extent possible as the information in my post was also available at the time. But that's not really the point, as your post was at least an attempt at being helpful - my criticism was aimed at comments like "Which part of this do you not understand ." and "then read the Terms of Use you agreed to when joining back in 2012 and you will understand it is NOT a discussion or chat forum". Which are neither helpful nor necessary.

Did you not read my post? At the time of posting, the manual for the Apple Watch had not been made available and the watch itself had not been released. You answered with, essentially, speculation on what Apple should or should not have done. I'm not sure how speculation and taking other people to task adds to the value of this thread (which had been dormant for over a month).
