iTunes Radio Automatically Skips through Songs

When listening to iTunes Radio through my AppleTV 3, iPhone 6, iPad 3, and iMac 2013 iTunes Radio will just start skipping through songs. The current song plays through to the end, but then starts scanning through 20-30+ songs before playing the same song that just played. This happens on every station I have created, and also on the suggested featured stations.

This just started yesterday after updating to iOS 8.2. I logged out of iTunes on all devices and signed back in, but the problem persisted. I also rebooted all devices with still no luck. My Husband is also having the same issue on his iPhone 5 and iPad 3 under a different iTunes account.

I happened to be out of Wifi range on my iPhone and tried iTunes Radio and surprisingly the skipping stopped. The minute I got back into Wifi range the skipping would start up again after the current song ends. So it seems like it has something to do with my Wifi which are run off of an AirPort Time Capsule and Extreme (all up to date). I rebooted my modem and AirPort’s thinking there was some weird config issue, but the skipping was still happening. I have not changed anything with my internet provider and have more than enough bandwidth.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix or further troubleshoot?

Y'all are pretty dedicated, I just like to see things work and I did pay for no ads in my music. I don't have cox but I share your issues with the same results no matter which DNS server I switch to. But I couldn't even play my own playlist yesterday, songs were hesitating but not skipping.

I can't believe why you don't simply switch to the multitude of other music apps ie I heart, pandor, Sirius radio etc for the most part they work well on Apple TV and you can control them with your Apple TV remote and Apple will even pick up the artwork for the music you're listening to it which is very cool.

rbswrds, I build a small home network using an AirPort Extreme feeding a Apple TV and two AirPort Expresses that are hard wired to old style stereo systems. This allows me to play iTunes through out there house. When using Pandora, etc., I can't find a way to broadcast to the two AirPort Expresses so no music plays from the old stereo systems.

I loved iTunes Radio for this function. With Radio going poo-poo I loose this function. Thus my dedication.

I just changes the DNS to the numbers offered by Level 3 several pages back. iTunes pitched a fit and send up error messages. So I entered the Google numbers also from several pages back. Three songs in, so far so good.

We shall see. Rather, we shall hear...

I had about an hours worth of Radio this morning before the "blue line of death" appeared in the window. It was running on my desktop iMac when it stopped. I tried my laptop and the same "blue line of death" with no Radio willing to play. I tried accessing Radio on my iPhone 5 drawing from my wifi - bingo! It played. I have no idea what to do next. I do feel it is an OS X problem.

Should I spend the time and $$$ calling Apple?

In your router (you do use a router right?) get into the DNS settings and change from the cox DNS servers to any of the free ones listed on this website:

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/a/free-public-dns-servers.htm

In the airport extreme, this setting is in the internet tab using the airport utility.

The thing that fixed it for me was changing to the Google 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 ones. When I upgraded to 10.10.3, iTunes Radio stopped working with the same problems of skipping even with the Google DNS. I then changed to the Level 3 DNS servers and it fixed all the problems. For kicks and grins, I changed back to the Google DNS , and things are still working.

Venzyle, the way I understand it is that AirPort IS the router. In my case I have an older AirPort Extreme but it all works sorta the same.

I have Cox cable coming into through the modem, from there to the AirPort that feeds the home wifi and the computer if directly connected by wire to your AirPort. I don't intend to talk down so forgive me if that is how I sound, I am finding my way through all this myself.

Using AirPort Utility I changed to the Cox back-up DNS numbers a week or so with limited success. Yesterday I changed to the Google numbers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 - so far so good here.

I am wondering since this has not been talked about in several months if this issue was resolved for some people. I don't have COX and Itunes Radio was working fine and then at work we added a new router and now the skipping suddenly started then. I am sure it relates directly to it, but before I go to tech support was hoping it had been narrowed.

Would a router have the DNS server IP address already in it? My thought was the DNS server would picked up from the ISP. The new router is a UniFi AP Pro (https://www.ubnt.com/unifi/unifi-ap/)
