Black screen when I go to take photo while in text or iMessage

9 out of 10 times when I'm already in a message and tap the camera icon to take a photo or video, the camera does not turn on and instead shows a black (or sometimes blurry) screen with the camera button and "cancel." Sometimes it will still take a picture but I can't see it until after the shutter and sometimes it stays frozen and I have to close the message app. It's been doing this since I downloaded the very first iOS8. I just kept hoping someone was having the same problem and Apple would fix it. My phone is currently up to date as far as software and I have turned it off and back on and sometimes when it's really bad I do the hard reset but it continues to not work.

Thanks but I've tried all of that, except going to the Apole Store. If I close the message app and come back, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. If I switch the camera to front-facing or facing me, it either goes from black to blurry or just freezes. The fact that any fix is only temporary is really quite annoying. It never did this until I installed iOS8.

Thanks! This also solves it for me temporarily. Then it randomly acts up again. I'm looking for a permanent solution. I contacted Apple support and confirmmed it is a software issue. It's fixed for now after resetting the settings. But like always, I'm sure it will come back. I'll keep you all posted.
