MFi Certified Charger giving me "Accessory not supported" error message and wont charge.

I've seen several posts about this issue and no one seems to have a definitive answer. I bought a MODAL charger from Best Buy about 4 weeks ago. It worked perfectly for about 3 weeks and now after about 2 minutes of charging a message pops up that says "Accessory may not be supported" and charging stops. If i unplug it and plug it back in, it will charge again for a while then the same thing. Why has Apple not provided any kind of answer for this? It is absolutely ridiculous.

NOTE: I've tried the "hold the button down and unplug it" trick and I've checked the port for lint.

I had and HTC for years and never had any problems with it. Since switching to Apple I've had nothing but problems and no one at Apple seems to have the time to help me with them. Sorry to inconvenience you with my business.

Hello there,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Since you are seeing an alert when using a 3rd party charger with your iPhone, I'd like you to please follow the directions outlined below. One thing to note would be testing this with the Apple factory charger which came with your iPhone.

If you see an alert

When you plug in your device, you might see one of these alerts:

  • “This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone.”
  • “This accessory is not supported by this device.”

If you see one of these alerts, unplug your device try and these steps:

  1. Look at the connector at the bottom of your device and make sure it’s free of debris, then reconnect the USB cable.
  2. If you still see an alert, try a different USB cable or charger.

Get more help

If your device still doesn't charge or you still see an alert after trying the steps above, contact Apple Support.
