Gmail emails are delayed or not sending to iCloud

A very strange issue started out of the blue a couple of days ago. I have my gmail account forwarding to my iCloud (me.com). My friend asked me if I got his email the other day, never went through. After some testing I found out that all of a sudden Gmail messages are not being forwarded or sent to my iCloud. Some are even bouncing back. Any idea what the problem might be? Why would it start out of the blue?

I bet this problem has been going on for a long time (longer than just since the 12th) because there usually was a slight delay and occasionally a longer delay. Now it's almost immediate. What a difference and what a struggle. I feel like everyone in this discussion really made a difference in calling this out to apple and getting it resolved. What problem shall we all work on next 🙂 ? Pam

I certainly hope it is finally fixed once and for all. There are posts on this subject as early as Feb 3rd! I too, using the number posted here, called Applecare and eventually got someone at a supervisor level who seemed slightly aware, and at least willing to pursue the problem. I have not heard back from her as promised informing me that the problem is fixed, although all my backed up test messages of a day or two ago now seem to be arriving in a heap. I also unloaded on the poor super asking why their techs didn't monitor the Community web site to stay on top of system wide problems such as this; it takes too long for any of them to lose their cluelessness if they wait for phone calls by all the affected people many of who are intimidated by the telephone tree, the apparent need for a hardware serial number, etc. to report such problems... I got boiler plate in reply about so many users, etc. but mention of it making the media first seems to wake them up!

Good work, guys.

Well, given that it took us collectively 5 days to solve a major problem between two global superpowers, I recon we put ourselves towards World Peace next Pam! We're on a roll - we can have that achieved inside of 2-3 weeks!! Lol!

Seriously, thanks to everyone who reported and kept updating. Love that my email is working again.

I Can't believe I found a thread on this. I have a friend in Atlanta who uses Gmail to email me. Starting Sunday, March 14th, her emails are arriving hours after she sends them. The first, on Sunday, she sent at 5:01pm. I rcvd it 7hrs later at 2:01am. Almost wrote her back immediately to ask what she was doing up when i noticed the difference in the time from when she initially sent it and when inactually rcvd it.

Yesterday, Monday March 15th, I sent 5 short emails between 5:30pm and 7:35pm. She responded to 4 of the emails from 6:50pm to 8:40pm. The first email she sent at 6:50pm artived at 10:58pm. Her 2nd email, sent at 7:18pm arrived at 10:18pm...before the first email she sent out. The 4th email sent at 8:40pm arrived at 12:43am while the 3rd sent at 7:21pm I rcvd at 2:26am Tuesday morning.

I wrote her this (Tuesday) morning, at 6am, to tell her about this. She wrote me back at 9:03am. I rcvd that email at 5:57pm.

WHAT IS GOING ON!

Thanks, Mike. sorry I did not get back sooner. I did call Apple using the number you mentioned (AppleCare) and the protocol (iCloud, loudly) which is very important in cutting through the crap. It took a couple of people before I got past the know-nothings, but eventually got a supervisor who has been trying to help, but the bottom line is she really doesn't know what is going on and the engineers she says she is working with seem not to know any more than she does! Or, they are not saying. You have to be firm with whomever you are talking to in order to get past the party line BS and the blame game. Once that is accomplished, however, they sound sincere in their efforts. I am sure it is not a simple thing, and if its some hacker, foreign gov't or otherwise, trying to mess with two of the largest email providers in the world, well, then it a) gets harder to fix; b) is likely to take some time until the full problem is understood; c) is going to be a royal PITA for an unknown time going forward. Those in this community who think their problem is fixed are likely to be disappointed; my guess is that it is a temporary fix as the engineers cast about trying this and that but do not yet understand the root of the problem. Rgds.
