Music and Videos keep getting deleted, yet I can't delete purchased music

For the past 3 days I've been battling with iTunes. For some reason my music keeps getting deleted off of my phone now. When it does, only the ones on my music list that were purchased stay and for some reason I can't delete THOSE. They stick and stay. I don't know why itunes is suddenly making me keep my purchased music without the ability to delete and I can't keep my music. I've re input my music twice and they still keep getting deleted. Videos too. Here are my problems.

1. For some reason, ALL the videos and music I had on my iphone keep getting deleted. They still show up on my itunes list though, just not on my phone. It's so weird. All the music is still RIGHT THERE on my itunes on my PC when I look but they disappear on my iphone completely so I have to keep putting the music back on.

2. The Artwork that I put manually into the songs doesn't show up. I mean when I actually play the song it shows up when it plays but when you exit back from that screen it doesn't show. It just shows a blank gray box. And the box next to the artist's name is not any artwork. It just says the artist's name diagonally from left to right upwards like there's no artwork. Some of the artwork doesn't appear no matter how many times I insert it manually.

3. Purchased music I CANNOT delete. iTunes doesn't even give me the option anymore. So for some reason, even if I delete everything left on the itunes that shows up there but not on my phone, it won't allow me to delete what's purchased on my iphone. I want to get rid of some of it.

I've tried unsynching on my itunes and still it doesn't help and the artwork still doesn't show up. The ability to delete still doesn't show for purchased items. This is weird it's like since the latest update to itunes maybe this started happening. That's the soonest I think I can notice when.

I run Windows 8.1

iTunes 12.1

iOS 8.2

Hi all, I have the same exact problem. I am using windows 8 , iPhone 6 ( latest software update ) and I run the latest iTunes software.

I tried dragging a new song to my iPhone music ( I always add my songs manually ) and it failed to add the songs, I restarted iTunes and suddenly all of my playlists and music disappeared from my iPhone !!! I have 3000+ songs!! I was really mad that I can view the songs on iTunes but not in my iPhone and when I try playing the song on iTunes an exclamation mark appears on the left of the songs!! I deleted all of my music on iTunes and I tried adding all of it from scratch! and when I added songs again it got added but once I eject my phone and plug it again the playlists and songs gets disappeared again. I am fed up with this! I am battling with iTunes since 4 days now of adding songs and songs gets deleted again and again... PLEASE HELP ME ON THIS!!!

Oh thank god I'm not the only one with the exact same problem. This is ridiculous. Please tell me you reported this to the feedback email address. This needs to be addressed. Everything was fine until I upgraded to iOS 8.2. I tried to downgrade but there were too many glitches in the process so until they come up with an upgrade that has a fix to this problem, I'm stuck with over 40GB of space on my phone that has absolutely NO music or videos on it and I'm confined to only Netflix, Youtube, and Pandora/IHeartRadio. This *****! I had yeah like thousands of songs too. It took forever to get those all organized just fine onto my iphone WITH cover art for every single **** album! EVERYONE WHO HAS THIS PROBLEM REPORT IT! And you know what? I know people will start having this problem too. Just watch.

I was about to start a new thread for this but I found out that you addressed the same problem so there is no point for me to copy your thread and post it again. Thank you for your reply. I know how hard it feels. It took me long time to organize my music and playlists and all of a sudden everything disappears. Also, when I tried to recover by adding some of the music again, it deleted it once I plugged/unplugged my iPhone to PC/iTunes. This is really unacceptable from Apple, I've always loved their products but I can't understand why they keep the iTunes sync thing too complicated for general users. It happened to me many times that all of my music gone, and I am really fed up of this problem!! This has to come to an end, seriously !

Agreed. I don't know what to do. I don't want to call apple support cuz I'll get charged $29. That's messed up, especially since they're the ones that caused this music and video deletion via sync problem. The only reason why I don't switch to an android phone or non-apple products is that they don't have a system for organizing music like itunes or the music app does. All they have to do is fix the stability of their sync process where the music DOESN'T get deleted off my phone and I'll be happy. All other apps can crash that's fine, just NOT the music.

See, I'm a musician and music is paramount to my life. I need it to go forward with my day. No I'm not the type of person who does everything with music on and my earbuds in my ears, but I need music for car rides, waits in the doctors' office, and on my work breaks, that kind of thing. I even need it when I eat sometimes. And I also need videos while I eat so I don't burn off data. This is crazy and I wish they'd fix it. I know they don't read these posts but I've complained 3 days in a row. Maybe I should complain more in the feedback? But it would all be from the same person, ya know?

Okay I downgraded to a lower iOS (8.1.3). The only problem is apple put in a thing where it says "You can't back up from your computer or your icloud because the software is too old" so I couldn't backup my iphone after I downgraded the iOS. Yes I'm that desperate. I'm trying to put music on my iphone again and see how the sync works on this older iOS. If it presents the same problem again I will NOT downgrade to 8.1.2. I will just wait til 8.3 comes out and cross my fingers that they will address this problem. For some reason I don't think this will be the last time I will see this sync problem/issue. I am really hoping that this will be stable.

I still have to pay 😟

So unless I really REALLY want to sell my soul and pay to get service, which I'm sure won't be anything but crap, I will defer that. But as I said to the other guy.

Good luck and thanks for being at my side with this problem.

Okay the same thing happened when I downgraded to iOS 8.1.3. It still deleted all my music when I synced after putting on several artists on my iPhone. OMG this has to STOP. Seriously. I don't know what to do. I seriously don't know why more people aren't complaining about this. This is a VERY serious issue! Apple iOS takes pride in their ability to manage and organize music for their players and users. It's ridiculous. I don't know what to do now. I feel so helpless.

Good for you. You're happy with the same 12 albums you bought. Not everyone is as easy to please as you. And I'll bet any amount of money you'd be one of a VERY VERY select few of people in the world who is that easy to please. Any smart consumer would not be easily swayed and manipulated. You did the support thing and just admitted you are happy with stuff you bought. Way to play into the capitalist leaders' hand of the world, buddy.

All irritation aside, I'm pleased you are pleased though. 🙂

As you can see, candy's post didn't help at all. In fact, candy just played into apple's hand with this unfair and greedy manipulation of the public. This is a serious issue. I'm not happy with just a few albums like candy is and i still refuse to buy albums on iTunes ive already bought! I'm not stupid. That's real stupid. Sorry to say. Well actually no I'm not sorry. It's just stupid.

Ah okay sorry I misread your entry. Yeah, at least you have 12 albums that don't get deleted each time you synch your phone. PLEASE EVERYBODY WHO READS THIS, SEND YOUR CONCERNS TO THEM VIA FEEDBACK EMAIL LINK. I've sent them 4 complaints already. Might send a 5th. I'M NOT GOING TO BUY ALBUMS I ALREADY HAVE VIA CD ON ITUNES! APPLE I SWEAR, THE RIGHT PEOPLE AND RIGHT AMOUNT OF PEOPLE WILL START REALLY COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS AND YOU WILL BE FORCED TO ALLOW US TO KEEP MUSIC WE ALREADY BOUGHT ONCE!

But yeah, thanks for helping out with us too. I really hope they can do something about this otherwise there's no point on keeping an iphone. Might switch to android phone again if this isn't solved within the next few months. I mean seriously the music and the ability to organize them so is why I have an iPhone above anything else. Above any other reason.

Thank you so much Candy for helping us save $30 on a stupid call that will help us get absolutely NOTHING out of it but a wasted 30 bucks. I mean is that all the tech said. It's "A known issue"???? Did he say they were doing anything about it? Cuz that means clearly a good amount of people have complained about it. Please elaborate more as to what was said by him and inquired by you throughout the conversation.

Seriously you really did help me out by saving me 30 bucks on a futile call.
