In the middle of using Facebook Messenger it force closed and now won't open at all.
I've tried restarting my phone, reinstalling the app, deleting some apps etc. Nothing works.
I really hope they bring out a fix for this update soon.

Have you contacted Facebook to see if there is an issue with their app? I just saw an update today to Facebook, so it is possible there is a problem on their end. Apple would not be bringing out a fix for a non-Apple application.
Yeah I seen the update to Facebook today, but as I understood it Messenger is a separate app now, so that shouldn't have affected it.
The reason I ask here is because I see a lot of people having the same issue on iphone since the iOS update, as well as with other apps.
My iPhone4S started to have problems with the Messenger app crashing about an hour ago. I deleted the app and reinstalled with the same result. I updated the IOS to 8.2. Still had messenger crashing. deleted app and reinstalled app after the iOS update. Still crashing. Not sure if it is the phone or the app. Messenger continues to work on my computer.
I've seen one other report of it, and provided that poster with a link to your post. As I suggested to you and him both, contact Facebook support, as this is not an Apple app. They would be able to tell you if there is an issue with their app. Since the last poster has indicated they had issues with it before updating and again after updating, including a removal and reinstall, leads me to believe this is an app issue, since it happened on more than one iOS, and with different phones.
And you will also see a number of them report that Facebook messenger was malfunctioning and they did not update. Many still on iOS 8.1.3. Also, if you are experiencing an issue that others are and there are threads already created, creating a new one is not necessary and only clogs up the forum, and makes it difficult for others to find solutions.
Messenger just came back to me (5s) but still have problem with other things with iOS 8.2 as the image of volume stays on for a while, it's slower...
I tried a thing to help the batterie since the watch app came in and took all batterie charge…you have to go in confidentiality and set up movement and health (sorry trying to translate french to english so it may be called another name…)

I just logged on here 40 seconds ago and I've seen at least 8 people reporting it.
There are at least 3 threads and im about to create another. The problem is the iOS update. Not facebook.
Look at the other threads in this forum. Several people reporting nonstop crashing apps. - not just with facebook apps.
You're going to see it more as some time goes by .

I am having the exact same problem. Just installed iOS 8.2 and Messenger is constantly crashing. Can't get it to work at all. I have an iPhone 6.
UPDATE I deleted all conversations and reloaded the app, it worked. Something in the conversations seems to block it....not sure what it was, but I am working now.
