Two sided printing on HP with Yosemite no longer available?

Since updating my iMac to the latest Yosemite, (10.10.2) my HP all in one C6280 printer does not even offer the option of two sided printing. Is there a way to get this feature back? The printer used to do two sided printing, and the option used to come up, but no longer seems to be there. I read several posts which suggested renaming a preset, but in the preset dialog box, it indicates that this is no longer an option. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Did you go to the HP web site and check for latest drivers for Yosemite?

System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Options & Supplies > Options.

Make sure Duplexer is checked, otherwise it will think your printer is incapable of duplex. Also, your printer needs to support duplex, otherwise this setting will do nothing.

Next when you use print, change to Layout (for example if you try to print from Safari, it will default to Safari in the bottom pulldown... switch this to Layout), select your desired printing option.

Thanks for your reply. However, I did download the latest driver from HP and it made no difference.

Thanks for your reply. I did check the box for Duplexer. However, when I go to print, and changed from Safari to Layout, the option to have two sided printing activate is not available. It is there, but it is only dimly lit and will not respond when I click on it and try to change the option. Any more thoughts would be very welcome.

If it's greyed out, it could mean that your device does not support duplex printing under OS X. One thing you could try if you haven't already is remove the printer entirely then add it back in again. The drivers that Apple supplies are the latest drivers for this device, there are no full-featured drivers available for this OS version.

Also, verify that you are using the proper steps for manual duplex printing:

If that doesn't work, you could try this two-sided printing application from HP:

If the above doesn't work, I think an email to HP support is in order. I suspect that they dropped support for duplex printing for your device with the later OS versions. When was the last time you had duplex support? Was it automatic or manual (i.e. you had to flip pages and print again)?

Thanks. Although I had previously tried everything you suggested, including HP's advice, I again removed and re-added the printer in question, and now it is printing on two sides. Not sure why, but I am glad for all the help suggested. Thanks again.
