ios 8.2 safari cant play youtube videos - dont have YT app

I just updated to ios 8.2 and then noticed that no youtube videos will play in safari. I press the play button and I get a perpetual spinning busy icon. Eventually the phone goes into standby. I can repeat this issue on WiFi, LTE and 3G. They play ok from Facebook or Google; I don't have the YT app. I've tried restarting the phone twice (32gb 5s) with no results. Some tabs in safari that had YT videos already open before the update now won't play. Going to youtube.com through safari and picking any video at random won't play. This issue may not be new it 8.2; I had recently sent some YT URL's to my mother's pre ios 8.2 iphone 5 and she complained that they wouldn't play. Pasting the URL's from safari into google ap will play. To add insult to injury, YT ad's play in safari followed by the perpetual busy icon of the YT video that never will.

Out of ideas.

Try clearing the browser/cache on Safari. While you're there, also make su rethat "block cookies" is set to either "always allow" or "allow from websites I visit." I can play the same video from my Sprint iPhone 5, 5s, 6 and 6+ directly through Safari as well as the YT app.

PS

Why not just download and install the YouTube app? I assume it's because you want to copy the URL links to send the videos in which case you can click the sideways "V" looking symbol and then click the "copy link" to send links via text message and/or simply message the link directly to the receiver.

Hi, I'm having the same problem, except videos will not play in any platform for me, on Safari or the Youtube app or the Facebook app. I have taken the advice you have said and made sure to set cookies to "always allow from websites I visit." How do I clear the browser/cache?
