Hello,
encoding 15minut video from FCPX to Compressor and 1080p YouTube takes 3+ hours.
That's ridiculously slow.
Do I do something wrong??
I have a new 6 core MacPro with 64GB Ram and SSD's
Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), 64 GB Ram
DDoes that include upload and processing by YT. I always do Vimeo and YT manually and by far these are the longest parts of the process.
ALso, avoid the Send to function it is notoriously slow.
no without upload, output is double the size the FCPX without any difference I can see.
compressor does not seem to compress really
YYou better explain exactly what you're doing as Compressor has too many variables. Using the Compressor YT setting includes upload and uses basically the same format as FCP's YT function.

It really does. Depends on what you feed it.
For example: If the input file is say, a 15 minute 1080P30 Pro Res clip, the file size would be nearly 17GB. That's because for that format, Pro Res 422 has a data rate of 147 Mbps. If you used the 1080P30 video sharing preset, Compressor would turn it into an h.264 file with a data rate of 20 Mbps. The output file would be about 2.3 GB…much smaller.
But it you were to feed it a 15 min 1080P30 H.264 file already encoded at 20 Mbps (about 2.3 GB) and applied the same preset, it would output…a 2.3 GB file. So in that case you'd be right.
