Messages Blank in Apple Messages (Yosomite)

Hi Friends...

So, I feel like my messages database must be corrupt because when I start Apple Messages, I see all of the names of people I am chatting / sms with, but there is no content... only their name.

If a new person texts me, I see it pop up, but the minute I select it to read it, it disappears.

I've already trashed ichat related plists, etc.,etc.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Hi,

I just faced the same problem, and was solved in very unexpected way.

It turns out one of the chat database files was corrupt on disk, specific the chat.db-wal

After repairing disk in recovery mode (CMD+r at start), the file was cleaned up.

Booting normally and logging in as always, I was very pleased to see that my messages appeared.

However, the last message that I can see now in conversations dates back few days ago, when my iMessage stopped to work. Another user commented in another thread that the servers does not store the messages, and it look he was right. No more message appear after the crash date from the server.

Hope that will help, even the chance for somebody else to have the same file corrupt it is really small.

Anyway, databases have the bad habit to get corrupt so always is a good idea to have a health check on a regular basis. Sysadmins know what I'm trying to say 🙂
