iPhone does not auto backup

Is it possible that you do not have enough space available in iCloud to back up your iPhone? That is one of the scenarios in the troubleshooting article below:

In iTunes Preferences > Devices, make sure the box for "Prevent xxxx from syncing automatically" is unchecked.

Bad idea. Syncing has nothing to do with backup, and having that checked can result in unexpected data loss when you connect the phone to your computer. Your iOS device should sync automatically whether that box is checked or not.

Point taken. But I did say make sure it is unchecked. Also, do you mean "back up automatically" not "sync automatically"?

Sorry, I meant it should be CHECKED, not unchecked. Either way, it has nothing to do with backup. And the original question was about backup, not sync.

You can also back up by syncing your device with your computer. When you use iTunes to sync, backing up is the first step.

Yes, you CAN backup when you sync, but there are good reasons not to. And the original issue was still about BACKUP, not sync. And the automatic backup capabilities apply only to backup, not to sync. You cannot set up iOS to sync automatically on a schedule. The problem we are addressing is why automatic backup is not working when it should be. This side discussion has nothing to do with the problem, and is just a distraction from the real issue.
