After recent securities software upgrade mac pro doesn't boot up.

Please help?

I recently did a securities update via the App store. Now my MacBook Pro doesn't boot up. The famous 'dong' sounds to confirm all hardware is working but the display remains black and nothing happens.

What do I do?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

A grey RESET PASSWORD eventually appears as if there was an error logging in but the device never takes me to the login page.

"Choose the problem you are having when logging in:

1) I forgot my password

2) My password doesn't work when logging in

3) My keyboard isn't working when typing my password to log in

Whichever option I select... reset password for example:

"Your FileVault volume password has been reset. You may reboot and unlock the disk using your new password."

When clicking on RESTART, nothing happens and I'm back to the start of the problem again.

Eric, Thank you so much!

The article: http://macs.about.com/od/usingyourmac/qt/Mac-Stalls-On-Gray-Screen-At-Startup.ht m

helped completed. I reset the SMC and PRAM and now.. my Mac is back to normal and I'm happy again as life is back to normal! ;-) LOL

Thank you again, really appreciate your assistance in stearing me in the right direction.
