Incoming Local Calls Displaying as International Incoming Calls....

I have a iPhone 5s with IOS 8.2 which has been good to me. Reliable etc.

Since the last ISO update (not sure if its the update or not) I have been seeing incoming local calls being displayed as international calls.

Example: My local area code is (416)

Local calls will usually come in as (416) XXX-XXXX

Well now they are showing up as +41 6 XXX XXXX

So when looking at it and hitting the indication of a missed call or to call back you would be calling "Switzerland" (Country Code +41) rather then it being local.

I called apple care who blames the issue on my Cell Provider "Bell" and when I call Bell they tell me to call you guessed it, Apple Care.

After 3 hours on the phone with both reinitializing my phone with my provider and reseting my phone setting and preferences with Apple care I have given up.

I have had this issue in the past and it was resolved. Don't remember how but it is an issue that I am not alone on. A quick goole search will provide you will a few people who had this problem but to date I have not seen a clear cut solution.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance for your time in you reply.

I was having the same issue. I live in Canada, but got an American phone. T-Mobile is the carrier. When I'm in Canada though, it defaults to Rogers. So, I too, thought it was a carrier issue.

I just went to Settings > Phone, and noticed My Number was set up as +1 (XXX) XXX-XXXX. I simply changed it to 1 (XXX) XXX-XXXX.

It seems to have worked. I just did this 2 minutes ago, so too early to tell if it's a permanent fix.

Alright so it has got stranger then imagined. Its hit and miss.

Here is what I am now getting when testing from my two phones in the house. I have a home and a business line in the house.

Sometimes its coming in showing the right number and then sometimes its showing the international format. All these call logs are within seconds of each other.

(416) 222-2222

+41 62 222 22 2

(416) 444-4444

+41 64 444 44 4

+41 62 222 22 2

(416) 444-4444

No rhyme or reason for the changes each time I test.

So it has little to do with the settings it seems. Its more about timing or originating callers phones. I don't know but I'm not getting any closer to solving this issue.

If anyone has any more suggestions please feel free to post and thanks Sberman for the help.

Two more thoughts:

1. In the U. S., some carriers offer Settings > Phone > Dial Assist to assist with this type of issue. If you have this in Settings (unlikely), turn it on.

2. Use your international dialing code (+1) when possible in your own phone number. Examples are Settings > Phone > My Number and Settings > Message > Send & Receive.
