How to turn Console off?

I want to turn Console off since it seems to run constantly and slows my MacBook down quite a bit. I read posts on this from 2011 and they said to go to Accounts in Preferences. I can't seem to locate Accounts. Can someone tell me where this is located? I did find Internet Accounts, but I don't think that's the Accounts they discussed.

The report format is fine, thanks.

Did you uninstall any Akamai software?

There are a few errors for fseventsd, which tracks file system changes. It makes me wonder about the health of the disks. What backups do you have?

Open Disk Utility, select each disk (this is the item that is not indented & may be named after the disk make & model), click the info button. The second line should be Type: disk, if that says 'Partition' you are looking at the wrong thing 🙂

Check what the S.M.A.R.T. Status : xxxxx value is showing & post it here please.

It may be worth checking the disk state & the partition state…

Disk check

Select each disk, in the First aid tab run the verify disk action – note any errors (or screenshot them with cmd+shift+4, tap the spacebar, then click the window. Images appear on the Desktop, attach them via the camera icon here)

Partition check

Select each partition, yours appear to be called Macintosh HD & Untitled.

In first aid verify the partition & not any reported errors.

Disk repairs will need to be done in Recovery mode, ask if you need help with that. I would make a backup before repairing, just in case.

NOTE: other users have had issues when Executor was installed on 10.9, it's unclear to me if that is the only reason they had issues, but it could be worth uninstalling if you do not use it, or check for newer versions if you have had it installed for a while.

I can't see any instructions for removing it correctly, check the sites for FAQ for instructions.

Backup: I have a bootable backup which I create every 2-3 months. Also run Verify/Repair > everything was okay on all disks including the partition.

I did the uninstall for Akamai software.

I cannot locate Executor, so I must not have it installed.

Disk Utility, Info:

Name: Macintosh HD

Type: Logical Volume Group

(This line empty)

Disk Status: Online

Total Capacity: 292 GB

Free Space: 0 Bytes (This was news to me, so I opened About This Mac > Storage and there is 123GB available.)

Physical Backing: disk0s2 (This is for Windows 7 to run AutoCAD)

We are not running any apps. We have turned off all background apps to troubleshoot this issue. Our Mac runs slow at startup. Then, a Console wind pops up with results of its activity. We quit Console, and the Mac runs as normal.

Console normally does not start up on its own!

Look in SystemPreferences->Users&Groups->LoginItems: if it is there remove it with the minus sign underneath.

I do not believe that Console can slow down your mac: it is just a log writer. There must be something else as everybody here tells you.

Like the Akamai software which is causing real problems since it was there in the Leopard period, as Drew pointed also to !

It is not really necessary either for whatever hardware, even the modems!

You can see that it is good to have Console as part of the system: it points clearly to Akamai as a culprit of issues.

Just uninstall it completely, which is not really easy. If you do not find an uninstaller and come back here and I will post the uninstall instructions.

Well it is is listed in the 'startup items' in bright red in your report. It was installed at one point and the remnants are left behind. You should still look for the correct removal instructions, simply searching for files is the reason apps do not get uninstalled correctly.

Please re-read what I suggested, the free space at 0 bytes is correct, but you are looking at the wrong thing…

SMART status is a set of basic info about the state of the disk.
