Converting AIFF music files to MP3 files worked like a charm on my MacBook Pro using OS X Maverick.
The files play and the sound quality is surprisingly good.
But when I unplug my USB device (Sandisk 64 GB jump drive) and plug into my automobile
USB port, (2014 Ford Mustang) not only do the files not play, the artist is not even
recognized. I got so mad I put the Mustang up to 110 mph
Can anyone interpret what's happening?

You are getting Road Rage. Cool down and don't drive until you fix your mp3 issue.

Just a guess: Your car stereo is confused by the hidden "dot files" on the flash drive. BlueHarvest (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/20036/blueharvest) is one solution. TinkerTool (http://www.bresink.com/osx/TinkerTool.html) is another.
