How do I burn a data CD in Windows 7 that can be read in Mac OS?

How do I burn a data CD in Windows 7 that can be read in Mac OS?

My work computer only has the built in CD burning tool, but also Roxio Creator. I tried both tools and neither CD is readable on a Mac (latest OSX). Some research I did said I should create an .iso or .dmg file but I am not aware of any apps in my Windows 7 machine to do that. It is a corporate laptop so I cannot add new software.

Suggestions?

Windows 7 should burn .ISO files by default without any 3rd party software. They can be read by MacOS but you may see a truncated file name.

If the CD is simply not read it could be the brand of CD, the type of CD or the drive mechanism on the Mac itself. Some CD's and DVD's can be flakey in Mac or PC's

According to the W7 help file to use a disk that would be readable in "any computer, including version of Windows earlier than Windows XP" the formats should be

CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW
