USB cord won't plug all the way into iPod

For no obvious reason, my USB cord won't plug all the way into my iPod 6 now. This has never happened before, so I'm kind of lost as to what's going on. There's nothing in the USB port; I looked in with a flashlight and tried to dislodge anything with a toothpick. I tried plugging in a different USB cord and it worked fine, so I'm assuming the problem is in the specific cord. The plug goes in all the way, but it just doesn't get all the way seated in, and falls out almost immediately. There's no obvious damage on the cord that I can see. Is there anything I can do to fix it, or will I just have to buy a new one?
