no sound using bootcamp with windows 10 and yosemite

Hi,

I've just installed Windows 10 preview on my iMac Retina with Yosemite. Everything works great but, I have no sound when using windows, I do have sound when on Yosemite. I've looked and still haven't found a working solution, any help would be appreciated?

Thank you. Jerry

No it's still there. It's coming from my iMac speakers only on the windows side. But if I play music through YouTube I hear the music through the headphone jack external speakers. But that **** sound won't go away. Did a repair lost all my sounds again. Just did another repair and that sound came back.

I went into sounds and turned them off and the sound went away...I listened to every sound there before I turned it off and none of them sounded like the sound I was getting. At least I can still hear my music through external speakers. I'm totally confused. Hopefully you'll have more for me?

Thanks Jerry

I've looked all over, it occurs all the time. Last night I turned off sounds in properties and then the sound went away. Turned them back on and the sound went away. Got up this morning and there're back again. Once again turned them off and back on and the sound went away. This is the only way to get it to stop for now. I sure hope there is a way to fix this...thanks for helping out. As of now, that sound is gone...but once I restart into windows it come back.

If you plug and unplug your headset often, the iMac 5k (iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) - Technical Specifications) has a combined analog/digital port, which has a microswitch to control the analog/digital output . If you look at the port at an angle, do you see a red light? This is the Optical laser. The switch can be stuck and cause misbehavior. Usually, plugging/unplugging the headphone plug gently a couple of times and turn it off.

The other option is to How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support and test.

No red light laser that I can see. I just rebooted back into windows and the sound is back. I turned off windows sound again and this time the sound didn't go away. I'm going to try the reset of NVRAM and I'll let you know.

Did the rest of the NVRAM and for now that seems to have fixed it. I'm leaving for a bit and I'll restart windows later and give you a update.

Thank you for all your help!!

Thanks again
