I have some teaching audio cd's. I tried importing them to iTunes. It is very weird but it broke it up into tracks. I listen to one track and it speaks and then it looses sound for awhile. Like it is going around the tracks then it comes to another track and there is sound then nothing.
It appears that itunes only works with music? I want to listen to the aiff files on iTunes but I guess I will have to buy a CD player just to listen to these CD's I want to listen to.

jjoplin...under iTunes Preferences > Advanced > Importing > Import using > AIFF Encoder....don't know if that will solve the problem or if you already tried it?
In the "Playback" preference turn off "Crossfade Playback" and "Sound Enhancer".
In the "Importing" pane of "Advanced" preferences turn on "Use error correction"
When playing use "Join CD Tracks" in the "Advanced" menu.
AIFF Automatic means that it will create the AIFF file with the same setting as the input. For input from a CD, that would be 44,100Hz, 16-bit, stereo. If the input is a disk file, it will match the characteristics of the file.
THANKS FOR BOTH SUGGESTIONS. HOPEFULLY I CAN PLAY THIS ON MY IPOD. I TRIED ALL THE SUGGESTIONS AND IT THEN GAVE ME A MESSAGE "DO YOU WANT TO CONVERT THIS TO AIFF"? SO I'M ON THE RIGHT TRACK. IT IS TAKING SOME TIME TO DO THAT SO I CAN'T TELL IF IT WORKED BUT I WILL GIVE IT A SHOT.
IT STILL SOUNDS LIKE THE TRACKS ARE SPLIT UP BUT I CAN SEE THEY ARE JOINED IN THE ITUNES WINDOW. IT IS A SHAME, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO LISTEN TO MUSIC AND JUST AUDIO.
For test purposes, try playing the tracks without using iTunes. You can set the "CDs & DVDs" System Preference not to start iTunes when you insert a music CD.
When you insert the CD you should see one AIFF file for each track. Try dragging a track to the QuickTime icon in the dock and see how it sounds. You can also play tracks from the "Preview" pane of Get-Info (⌘I)
