I turned Speech Recognition on and am unable to turn it off. The annoying speech disc stays on despite the off button being highlighted in the speech preferences pane. I have restarted the computer but speech recognition will not die. Actually, I can kill it with Activity Monitor, but it reappears every time I restart. I have confirmed that I know how to turn Speech off and on with a second computer. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Sorry, maybe I did not make myself clear. I HAVE tried multiple times what you suggest. That is, of course, the way you are supposed to turn off speech. This does not work on one of my Macs. That is the reason I posted here.
