Problem installing software
I am trying to install Microsoft Office which I downloaded from cnet but I come up with this error. Does anyone know what to do? Thanks in advance.
MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Sorry. You did NOT download Microsoft Office. you downloaded an update for Microsoft Office. You can not download Microsoft office (legally) from anyone other than Microsoft.
You are trying to install an update for Office 2011. You need to buy Office first here. You can download the Trial version at that site, but until you purchase a registration number the trial will expire in 30 days.
Looks like you're trying to install an update of Office 2011. Do you have an earlier version of Office 2011 on your Macintosh HD? If not and it's some earlier version of Office, you may need to view the requirements for that update to be sure you meet them.
Thanks for answering. It said on the page that I would be able to download the legitimate Office there. Do you know any other way to do so besides actually buying the app. I don't mean to sound bad but I would rather try the app for free before actually buying it.
Thanks for explaining this to me.
No. It is not free.
That said, the "preview" version of Office 2016 for the Mac is available directly from Microsoft. It will remain free (so long as you update it as needed) until the final release this summer, at which point you would have to buy it or subscribe to Office 365 to continue using it.
Thanks for the update. I will use the link you provided. Thanks again.
