For some reason my iPhone 4 (yes I know it's old!) won't acknowledge that it needs an OS update. It says that iOS 7.1.2 is still up to date. However I'm pretty sure that the iOS 8.2 is out and it should be updated to that. Is there any reason this is happening? Can anyone help? I am using a couple of apps on my phone that require the new OS.

The iPhone 4 doesn't have a dual-core CPU and cannot run iOS 8.

7.1.2 is the highest possible for that model.
Thanks, that tells me it's probably time to start thinking about an upgrade!
Why?
Are there any whizzy new features (that the hardware can support) that you actually need.
My 4S has upgraded easily this week nearly a month after everyone else, and is still speedy enough (no performance failures seen) that its functionality remains all I need.
Don't use Fitness, wont need a Watch so...
