Accessibility zoom crashes since ios 8.2 update

I'm visually impaired and so I use the zoom feature for most of my experiences with ios devices. it is the main reason I converted to Aplple products. No other company that I've seen, has a zoom feature that allows me to zoom in on apps that don't support the pinch zoom. I have loved Apple since I converted.

UNFORTUNATELY! Apple tried to fix something that wasn't broken. Since updating my ipad 2 to ios 8.2 the zoom feature sporadically freezes. I'll be stuck where I'm zoomed in at and cannot move the screen around nor can I use the home button to return to the main screen nor will the power button allow me to turn the device off nor any other function. I HAVE TRIED tapping all combinatins of fingers in different intervals and yada yada yada. The only thing I've found to get me out of the mess is to do a hard power off with the power button and the home button. This can be very frustrating if I am working on something important or if I have to do it multiple times in one sittig.

At first I just attributed it to updating my old ipad 2 to an ios that it really can't handle UNTIL it happened to my iphone 6 plus (side note: larger screen a HUGE "plus" for those of us who use the zoom feature. Thank you Apple). If the 6 plus can't handke the zoom then there has to be something wrong with the updated zoom software.

IT happens in a variety of apps so perhaps its a compatibility issue . It happens a lot while using the Youtube app.

Is there a tweak or a fix I can do to solve this issue? Do Apple developers monitor this forum or is this just a place for costumers to gripe? How do I report this issue to Apple so that it can be fixed in ios 8.2x ?

I have given up as clearly Apple are not going to fix this. I have taken Accessibility Shortcut off and makes no difference. The freezing has interrupted a bank transaction and a ticket purchase in last 24 hours. Clearly IoS isnt fit for purpose for people with sight loss.

JUst to update to let you know that since iOS 9, the problem is completly gone for me now. I had no freeze with zoom at all since I installed the update the day it released. I think this problem is solved now for good.

is zoom feature working properly for you?

since upgrading to iOS 9 zoom sometimes isn't activated through the three finger gesture and its kind of laggy and when zoomed in an area when moving around it loses some frames

ZOom activation works for me but yes, there is some frame issues when its zoomed but not that much. I think the whole iOS9 lose some frame and is not as smooth as 8.4. But the zoom fonction works now so I can easily work with some frame lost compared with the mess of the zoom crash for almost a year.

I Upgraded to 9.0 when it came out and turned accessibility shortcut back on. I have not had the crash problem since the upgrade. I'm running 9.0.1 now.

I Have seen one occurrence where I double tapped the controller to zoom in and on my landscaped iPad only the left 75% zoomed in while the right 25% stayed zoomed out. I took a photo of it with my iPhone and sent it to accessibility@apple.com late last week. It was easily recovered by rotating the screen to portrait and back.

FOr what it's worth, I frequently have trouble with the three finger double tap gesture and have ever since the start of iOS 8. Somewhere near iOS 8.4 it started working for me again but now I can't do it in iOS 9. It's annoying but double tapping the zoom controller is an acceptable workaround for me.
