Help with updates on computer?

I just plugged my ipod touch 5g into the computer. (long story short i needed to clear it) I started to get 8.1.2, and i think my cord broke halfway through since it is stuck and it has not made any progress on the update for about 20 minutes. If i unplug my ipod mid update, will that hurt it?
