AppleTV compatible with a 5Ghz network?

Up until a few days ago I had no problems with my Apple TV (2nd gen). Then I switched my network from 2.4 Ghz to 5 Ghz. Apple TV easily connects to the new network, showing signal strength as "strong".

Pushing content from my computer (iTunes) or from my iPhone to Apple TV works. But not the other way around: when I try to connect to my computer (iTunes) from AppleTV, it either gives me an error message that it can't find it or just simply jumps back to the home screen.

I've tried restarting AppleTV, the router and my computer. So far no luck. 5Ghz is supposed to be compatible with AppleTV I thought, and yet....? Any ideas please?

I assume you are using a dual band Apple router. You are better off unchecking that 5 GHz box and just let the router and devices automatically connect to which ever band is running the fastest. Most of the time its going to be 5 GHz anyway.

Also make sure you don't or didn't create a bunch of different names for your wifi network. Delete them all if you must and just use a simple name without spaces.
