Is iPod Touch Gen 2 supported by iTunes?

I have a 2nd generation iPod touch Model MC086LL. Is it compatible with iTunes and which version? It has iOS 3.1.1 on it currently, but I read that it can be updated to 4.2.1 in questions that are over 2 years old, so I'm not sure if it still is true, or if iTunes works with this model anymore.

iPod touch, iOS 3.1.2

Yes, it is compatible with up to and including the latest version of iTunes.

To update

The Settings>General>Software Update comes with iOS 5 and later.

Connect the iPod to your computer and update via iTunes as far as your iPod model allows

iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

- A 2G to 4.2.1. Requires iTunes version 10 or higher. If a Mac it requires OSX 10.5.8 or later.
