free space off after upgrading to iOS 8.3

I upgraded my iPhone to iOS 8.3 and now the free space reported by iTunes 12.1.1 is wrong. If I do a hard reset of my iPhone, it actually displays the correct value briefly before changing to the wrong one.

Here's what the values are, first is the first displayed "right" one and second is the updated "wrong" one:

Audio: 56.4, 314.9 MB (41 songs)

Photos: 455.4 MB, 355.4 MB (754 photos)

Apps: 17.62 GB, 16.10 GB (370 apps)

Docs & Data: 1.67 GB, 1.19 GB

Other: 1.99 GB, 1.77 GB

Free: 4.96 GB, 7.05 GB

Is anyone seeing this discrepency with iTunes for Windows after upgrading to iOS 8.3?

Same thing happened on my iPad Air 2. iTunes Free space suddenly jumped up 4 GB and all the other data values shrunk to various degrees.

APPLE, WHERE ARE YOU ON THIS THREAD/ISSUE? THIS PROBLEM IS HORRIBLE, DON'T YOU DO ANY QA ON YOUR RELEASES? WHAT A COMPLETE WASTE OF MY TIME. YOU HAVE KEPT ME FROM PLAYING WITH MY CHILD WHILE I TRY AND FIX MY PHUCKING PHONE. ANYONE WORKING FOR APPLE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THE GARBAGE THEY SPEW ON CONSUMERS. WHAT A PHUCKING NIGHTMARE.

C'MON APPLE, YOU COWARD. I DARE YOU TO COMMENT ON THIS THREAD. GUTLESS BUNCH OF EMPLOYEES

I am having this issue but it will not allow me to sync to itunes therefore I can not restore it in any way. Sitting at 0 byte memory and my iphone 5s is acting strangely. I get this error when trying to sync to itunes iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not save the pairing record. I have tried both my mabook pro and Imac with no luck. I have reset the phone with no luck. This is a very stupid problem. Reason why I dont like doing updates, but thought I had to the other day for some reason. Anyone else having the same issue with not being able to sync? I have no idea what to do besides wait for a new update that hopefully fixes this

Tried a new USB cable and it worked for a second, but I cant backup my phone or sync since it says I have no space. If I do a restore it says I will lose all purchased apps which is complete BS. Any ideas when a new update is coming so maybe that could fix it? Im sure my phone will continue to say no space so I probably wont be able to do that. I currently cant open any apps or do anything on my phone. I was an avid Iphone fan until this ****

I was getting that "iTunes can't connect with this phone" or whatever message. It was because I hadn't updated to the latest iTunes, so if you haven't updated iTunes, do that and then you should be able to see when the last backup of your phone was. You can get pictures off your phone onto your computer without iTunes, just find it like you would a camera or flash drive (I don't know Mac, I use windows computer), and save them to your hard drive.

Also, the message about you'll lose all your purchased apps doesn't mean they're gone forever from everywhere, they will just be gone from your phone when you do a factory reset. They will still be in your iTunes and you can put them back on your phone when you restore.

I feel your pain! iTunes is needlessly confusing and complicated and it's scary to wipe out your iPhone, but it was really fine when I did it I didn't lose anything but a few text messages.

If you have the problems I did I think I found the solution. Apple support had no info for me they just wanted me to do a full restore. I didnt want to lose my info. I couldnt do icloud backup since everything would continue to crash due to 0 memory available. My solution. Restart the phone, go into settings usage and delete a few apps that can be easily downloaded again later. Give it a second to show that you have some space available. At this point do an icloud backup immediately. I was then able to do a restore through itunes then use the icloud backup from your phone. Hope this helps someone else. I have also told Apple support the solution so hopefully they can pass it along instead of just telling someone sorry you are going to lose data you didnt have backed up.

I came to this thread, because I too am having a difference in space reported between iTunes and iOS. Now with mine, it's not a huge amount of space, nor am i having issues where i run out of space on the device. I have a brand new iPhone 6 and i noticed the difference when upgrading to iOS 8.3. The phone had 8.2 on it by stock. It's the verizon 16 GB iPhone 6, I don't keep a lot on the phone, so I usually have a range of 10x to 8x GB free on my phone(s).

I came from the iPhone 5 and I didn't notice the issue as much, but then again I rarely use iTunes sync, At first I thought it was a difference between new hardware, and the iPhone 6 having more features then the 5, and requiring more space for the OS, for this components. After reading this thread it looks like much more of an issue then I had thought. I'm going to wait for the iOS 8.4 upgrade to see what it brings. the phone is functioning normally. I will say, that based on what I have read, Apple knows iOS 8 ins't great, and has stated that iOS 9, and OS X 10.11 are both supposed to focus on stability, and optimization.

YYeah I hope your right that the next release will be more about bug fixing and optimising rather than new features. I think apple has pushed so hard on new stuff that the basics have been neglected a bit, things like iTunes sync. unfortunately as much as I love their products iOS 8 has been a love/hate relationship with the phone as it's been a pretty disappointing release. iOS 7 wasn't without its problems but it seemed so much better. Fingers crossed for iOS 8.4 and iOS 9. Maybe with iOS 9 they would be better sticking with it and giving it a longer run rather than doing a new iOS every year. Really give an iOS a chance to mature and become very stable.

I just noticed in the email this thread was geared toward windows users which I didn't see when searching on google.

With that being said, I Use mac os x as my primary os and windows as secondary in a virtual machine. With this being said I have read, and heard the mac version of iTunes works better then the windows version, but I have no real link to back this up. I have just noticed apple products just work together, and part of this is related to not using the phone with a mac, for a lot of the users here.

When I've tried windows in a windows virtual machine, i found it worked pretty well, but I didn't try syncing an iOS device with it.

Its into July 2015, iOS 8.3 here on iP 6 and OSX 10.8.5 and iTunes 12.1.....

Still have issues with space allocations. Just like everyone in this thread, free space reported wrong. Amount of photos/videos is wrong. Other space is wrong. (idk why OTHER is ..oh wait, now 5 mins later, OTHER is gone, it was like 3-4 GB.)

I only have 16 gb iP 6. I was taking pics of family away from home, and suddenly phone is filled. Not sure if it really was.

I hope 8.4 fixes this.
