I just got new MacBook Pro 13-inch, Early 2015 with only a single PAGES file, a single KEYNOTE/POWERPOINT' ' file, Skype & VLC. That is all. I updated to 10.10.3 & I got slow start up. Completely unresponsive screen for 2 or 3 second, then a Mac kicks in with a completely blank (but illuminated) scree that lasts for about 20 seconds. Previously it took just a second or two to start up.
So exactly did the trick?
* Changing the HD name? or
* Reseting the PRAM & SMC?
Although I have been using Mac since 2012 I am not as technically aware of it as I am of PC. Do tell me if there are any drawbacks of performing either action.
Thank you!
Open System Preferences, select Startup Disk, and make sure your internal drive is selected as the startup disk. Then click restart!
This worked for me, with the same issue.
Thanks man!
1 second blank screen, 1 second apple logo black screen & my Mac is GO!
You saved me tears 😝
No, you could do what Ralevyaj says on page one of this post. Changing the name won't help, that is me just preferring another name for my HD.
Goto system preferences, select the startup icon for your HD 'Startup Disk', select your internal internal drive i.e. the startup disk and restart.
This solution help me, it helped with the lag between the start chime, blank screen and the startup sign in page. My system startup now work the same as it did before 10.10. 3 🙂
Thank you, it worked for me
Resetting the PRAM worked fine for me. Thanks!
Thank Ralevyaj, it works for me too !! 🙂
In my case just reset the PRAM and all the system is back to normaly.
If you accepted FileVault encryption, that will slow things up. So, if you are and you don't need that extra security, you may want to get rid of it.
This procedure solve the issue. I guess its juts a Bug of targeting the SSD as Main.
Thanks Man.
Yes oabc1 you are most probably right? I have a fusion, it would be interesting to see who have SSDs, if they be fusions or SSDs only, in this discussion thread...
This did the trick for me! Thanks for the super easy fix (because I was getting SUPER frustrated with the slow boot speed)! Have a great weekend!
this worked for me, thank you
its work for me ! thank you 🙂
