I have cleared up my iphone5s, installed factory settings and haven't back up it my own settings. So the iphone had only main, original settings. Bluetooth was off, location off. Problem with battery staid! Aprox. 10% down in an hour, in standby. That means bug that came with 8.3 is in self, having no connection to already existing applications or what ever!

I think we all understand that, however, this is not normal battery drainage or behavior. When you use a device everyday, and most people are pretty consistent with how they use their devices, you notice when something is not right. This is a drastic change in battery behavior. This is not normal and the regular battery saving tips and tricks don't work. This is a definite problem that happened during the last update.

My husband and I both did the over the air update. Our battery life is awful, but mine is worse. I'm glad your worked for you. Could it be that something didn't happen right during the update for some of us? (I know, very technical right?). It seems whether over the air or plugged in, you tried it a second time and it worked better. Before people were reporting that plugging in was giving them better results vs. over the air. One time while I was visiting the Genius bar with another issue with my battery, they checked the last update and the result of how it installed. He told me that sometimes something can go wrong where it doesn't install fully or correctly and it can cause battery drain issues. Maybe this is the case with this one.

So that could confirm that the iOS 8.3 has some software development issue, causing device battery drop unbelievably fast.

Currently this issue effect more on old devices such as iPhone 5s, since my iPhone 6 plus does not have such issue until now, with iOS 8.3.

I don't know whether it will be solved in upcoming system update, or a major upgrade. I may only hope apple could be aware of this issue, and take action.

Could you specify the device you are using now? This may give other customers a great reference.

Mine is iOS 8.3 and I have refreshed my system more than twice due to some other issues.

It is sad that apple does not give user the right to downgrade their system to a previous minor version (e.g. 8.3 downgrade to 8.2, not 8.3 downgrade to 7.1.2.)

I think what you guess might be right. From my experience, refreshing settings may help in some circumstances. The continuity between my iPhone and mac did not work at all before a recent setting reset. After that, continuity works mostly as expected.

However, many users in here tried resetting settings but it didn't work.

Hope apple could resolve this issue in the future software update.

Is there any "official" resolution available yet ? I was planning to try to upgrade to 8.4 beta since this battery drain issue with 8.3 is getting unbearable. I'm using 5S as working phone and now it has to be plugged in whenever there is ac available.

Battery drains 10-15%/hour without usage (during night) and couple of hours with light/normal use. I have tried all the possible tricks there is (reset/restore/icloud off/app refresh off/...) without any help.

Fortunately I still have my old 4S which I use now when I'm travelling.

One weird thing i noticed during last days (after the upgrade). Signal level is always kind of low. I live/work in areas with excellent net coverage, nevertheless is my 5S showing low signal level all the time. Earlier the signal strength was good (it still is acc to my 4S). This could be causing some additional battery drain.

Updated my iphone 5 to ios 8.3 over OTA .. Battery life was worse on 3g/2g..device used to get too hot.. even wasn't good on wifi as well

Battery percentage issues..drops directly to 59 from 61 .. 58 wasn't on battery meter.. Same happens on 28-26.,

once it was showing 86%..plugged in pc..n showed 92%.. Restart iphone - 96% .. WTH was that apple??

i did hard/soft reset both..bt nothing looked convincing to me at ol..i had that in my mind that my device is around 2.5 yrs old.. so may be battery is nt that good i know..

bt still i wanted to try more ,.. So i downloaded full ios 8.3 from a website..

Hard reset iphone.. installed full ios 8.3 .. no icloud signed in ..n started using safari on wifi .. it took mine iphone from 100 to 92 in just 3-4 mins ..dat was strange..

so i thought there is some issue with Safari in ios 8.3

Did hard reset again.. Installed ios 8.3 again full New.. No icloud sign in .. no Apple id sign in ..

No sim card installed ..

Never opened safari yet..

didn't opened Music as well..

installed chrome.. whatspp.. Gmail.. other 3 recharge apps

USing chrome for surfing on wifi -- 1% down in 4 mins .. don't know its ok or nt..

have just 4-5 notifications allowed ..BAckground refresh off..

battery after 48 hrs of standby ,, n 4.5 hrs of usage is still around 53 % --using WIFI.(use to off wifi when i hv no use of it)... Bt no sim installed yet...in Battery usage i often used to see LOW SIGNAL

Now i m using icloud too .. contacts tab on.. icloud drive on as well .. others r off..

Don;t know guys .. bt i think there is issue in Safari/Music app in ios 8.3..nt sure abt photos app .. bt i hv doubt on that too.

Now i m scared to open Safari n Music app .. don't know i m ryt or wrong..

n also scared to check it on 3g/2g

MY iphone is 2.5 yrs old.. i know battery is nt that good know.. bt still ok on wifi ..

Bt definitely there r issues in ios 8.3 for sure..

61-59 directly bt when i connected it in itunes it showed 60 .. so sw issues in ios 8.3

Iphone charging too fast .. something wrong with this ios .. i m sure abt it

Icloud storage shows wrong as well

I'm not installing it due to Apple forcing me to correct a camera issue. It is really aggravating even though i i know its not a hardware issue. I kept explaining to them they are fixing to lose a Apple customer who has had an iPhone ever since the original. I'm sick of them forcing us to update to their "improvements." Every time they screw more and more up. Then after being transferred to a "senior" apple tech and i explained that after a 40 minute and 26 second conversation I should have had a genius bar appointment, he said "oh you want me to set that up for you?" Then hung up! Apple is on their last leg with me. Dedicated apple guy FED UP!

I've had the same battery drain issue since updating to iOS 8.3. It's the worst. I'm on 5s too. For whatever reason the drain happens at like 1% a minute on usage time. That's insane!! I also noticed it takes a lot longer to charge. Also gets extremely hot after 5 minutes of use. I did all the tips/suggestions and so on and nothing works! Also there shouldn't be tips, suggestions and tricks to get better battery life, the phone should be build to work and last. This update by far was the worst EVER!! Hoping they correct it soon so I don't have to walk around with a charger or use a battery charger case all day! 😠
