After upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.3, launching Messages freezes my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), requiring a hard restart (power off). I didn't back up prior to the upgrade, so I can't roll back to 10.10.2. Any suggestions on how to resolve this? I've already tried moving the iChat.plist out of the Preferences folder, restarting, and launching Messages, and that didn't do the trick.

Total protection is the same situation 10.10.3 Yosemite after full scan.
An Apple service engineer advised me to disable it.
After that I was advised to re-install Yosemite.
Then Yosemite became very faster at every startup.
I had to uninstall it.😟

Found this in McAfee's Knowledge Base. It is indeed related to McAfee Endpoint and the 10.10.3 Yosemite upgrade. Similarly, Messages would eventually open up after a few minutes of idling.
Unfortunately they don't provide a solution, but they do provide a workaround. My company's IT is seeing if they can implement it, but hoping this helps someone with the same issue on their personal computer.
