I have lost all my iPhoto events after upgrading to Photos Version 1.0 (209.52.0)

I have lost all my iPhoto events. Or, am I missing something here?

I just upgraded to the new Photos from iPhoto on my iMac. The new Photos app imported and reorganized my photos by date and mixed all of my previous well organized iPhoto events into a jumbled lot.

How can I re-sort these photos back into an Event type of organization?

I think I had several thousand events.

Moments are the new Events. All of your events in iPhoto are not Moments in Photo and were also brought over as an album. Open the sidebar with the Option+Command+S key combination and look in the folder titled "iPhoto Events".

There's a way to simulate events in Photos.

When the library was first migrated there was a folder created titled iPhoto Events and all migrated iPhoto Events are represented by an album in the folder.

When new photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N. Name it as desired. It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the folder

When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window.

There are no events any more. They are what is called "Moments". What you see in the sidebar are albums and the album of the iPhoto Events that were created during the conversion.

they are now available for all to see.

Have your wife's account on your Mac (or her own Mac) be limited to only herself.

Or create a separate Photos library for just the midwifery photos and put it in an encrypted Disk Image that needs a password to open.

Or continue using iPhoto for as long as it will run and/or until you can find a suitable replacement for it. iPhoto 9.6.1 will run with 10.10.3.

Other users who had earlier versions of iPhoto have been able to download it by deleting their current iPhoto application, going to the Purchases section of the App Store and downloading 9.6.1.

I did at one point but now I don't anymore. Is there anyway I can get it back?

Restore your backup from when they were there or migrate again

People have reported this happening after they removed some albums from the iPhoto Events folder - what causes it or why it happens is not at all clear but when you restore them I suggest you not remove albums from that folder - based on reports it seems that there is some bug or strange operation taking place there
